Smartphone brand Samsung has continued tradition by taking yet another dig at its long-time rival, Apple.
On September 9th, Apple held its highly-anticipated Glowtime Event to reveal its new iPhone 16 line-up. However, as the tech giant celebrated its latest range of innovations, Samsung wasted no time in playfully mocking its competitor’s releases.
Soon after Apple’s big reveal, Samsung took to X (formerly Twitter) to post an old message that read, “Let us know when it folds,” referring to the foldable feature found in Samsung’s own phones.
The message now continued with “Still waiting,” aimed at poking fun at Apple’s lack of foldable technology.

This light-hearted jab sparked a lively and vigorous debate across social media, with fans of both companies taking sides.
One user dismissed foldable phones as mere gimmicks, while another sarcastically asked, “Can you airdrop?” referencing the iPhone’s AirDrop feature, which Samsung phones don’t support. Yet another suggested that Samsung should focus on its own innovative features.
Can you airdrop ?

The one-sided jabbing contest didn’t stop there. Samsung also took a dig at the iPhone 16’s new AI features, criticizing the similarity across Apple’s new line-up.
“You know… we may have set your AI expectations too high,” Samsung joked.

The rivalry intensified when YouTuber Quinn Nelson highlighted the repetitive design of Apple products. Samsung chimed in with a sarcastic comment, “You said it, not us”
However, Nelson fired back and highlighted that Samsung’s phones have also followed a similar pattern every year.
You said it, not us. 👀

However, Samsung was not merely engaging in a mocking contest; the company had its own major news to share. On the same day as Apple’s grand launch event, Samsung introduced its “Discover” sales event, which lasts till September 15th and presumably aims to take some of the limelight away from Apple.
