For many, working at Google is a dream. But what is it really like?
Bengaluru-based software engineer Raj Vikramaditya recently shared his insights into his three years working at Google. Known as ‘Striver’ on X (formerly Twitter), Vikramaditya gave users an honest breakdown of the advantages and drawbacks of working at the tech giant, providing a rare behind-the-scenes look inside Google.
On the plus side, he highlighted the incredible work-life balance, the meticulous documentation, the quality of the codebase, the internal tools, the being surrounded by genius talent the “extra perks” and the far-reaching impact of the work. However, there were also some drawbacks, which included: too many approvals, limited scope, and team-switching and promotions.

Another user asked Vikramaditya the key question: “From your perspective, What would you say is the “big why ?” would you consider working at a big tech company like Google right now?”
Striver replied: “Honestly right now if you ask me, I don’t want to sit in my room alone all the day. I am pretty settled and got things aligned for everything to work simultaneously, so don’t wanna switch as well.”
