A new LinkedIn post has gone viral where a woman from Bengaluru shared her decision to reject a job offer due to the disrespectful behavior of the company’s CEO.
Named Vibha Gupta, she shared that this was her first-ever face-to-face interview and made a list of red flags that made her realize joining the company would be a serious mistake.
Her first concern arose when the CEO kept her waiting for 15 minutes. Acknowledging that this may have been because of his busy schedule, it was his subsequent behavior that raised eyebrows.
When asked if HR had sent her an introductory company video, Ms Gupta replied that they hadn’t. The CEO immediately summoned the HR representative into his office and scolded her in front of her.
“No respect towards his employees. While I understand HR made a mistake it’s disrespectful to scold your employee in front of a stranger,” she wrote in her post.
The CEO then compared her creative work to AI-generated content, specifically ChatGPT, which she found disrespectful. ” Called copywriting as “ChatGPT.” Made me realise my work will not be respected by him,” she explained. He also copied a bio that she wrote in her assignment and forwarded it to her marketing team, making Ms Gupta speculate that the company would update their own bio with it in a few days.
Lastly, the CEO seemed unable to comprehend the nature of his own brand. “Called my current & ex organisations’ work boring while failing to understand this is their brand tone. Everything doesn’t have to be catchy, sassy, etc. While researching about them, their content sounds AI-generated,” Ms Gupta said.
“I agree that he might have worked hard to get there but man, please be humble and respectful towards people around you,” she concluded. “Right after the interview, I messaged HR about what happened in the cabin and withdrew my candidature. He might find someone who’ll be a great fit for his company but he doesn’t deserve me.”
