RELIANCE JIO LAUNCHES ITS ZOOM CLONE CALLED JIO MEET

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, working from home has become the new norm and provisional workspaces at home have now begun feeling like a more permanent setting. Amidst this, Video call apps like Zoom, Messenger Rooms and Hangouts Meet, that have kept things running by enabling remote synergy, have really flourished in the market. To establish its foothold in this space, Reliance Jio has come up with JioMeet, a free video-conferencing app that supports up to a hundred participants.

The app is available on iOS and Android for smartphone users while there’s a desktop version for Mac and Windows users. A Web version is still in the works and isn’t fully functional yet. Users can sign up using their email IDs or phone numbers and then schedule password-protected meetings that can last up to 24 hours and it also permits multi-device logins.

The app, however, looks like a lethargic imitation of Zoom. The User Interface, available options, vector logos, landing page, and everything else within the app were copied exactly from Zoom. The app faced severe backlash on social media for its lack of originality. Thereafter, the app redesigned the vectors but the interface still largely remains the same.
