500 influencers across India are roped in for ICC World Cup

It’s a big day for the creator economy. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to rope in 500 influencers from across India for the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

The majority of creators from this list are regional creators who enjoy a dedicated fan following and are known for their authentic and admired content. Because they belong to various regions of India, ICC ensures that each match has a representative in attendance and will thus be able to offer coverage specifically tailored to their city and language, encompassing the whole of India. Some creators from this lucky list include: @manasarora15 of Himachal Pradesh, @Akshay_partha from Chennai and @dasoham_ from Kolkata and @Divyuh Fofani in Pune.

Super 50:

Of the 500 creators, some of them will be shortlisted to form the “Super 50”, gaining exclusive access to the field before and after the match, to commentors, to ambassadors, pre-match day ground access, and much more. These special “Super 50” will then deliver behind-the-scenes content to cricket fans across social media during all 48 matches.

Some creators like “Funcho” have already begun posting about the tournament:

Paras Sharma, director and head of content and community partnerships, Meta, India, commented on this initiative: “To give fans unprecedented access to matches, and give creators a chance to be discovered nationally, we’ve kicked off one of our largest creator campaigns for any sporting event to date. We’re glad to work with ICC on this, and to have their support in unlocking the many social and fan experiences on our platforms. At the scale of this campaign, we’re hoping this revolutionizes the way cricket fans engage with the sport.”

Finn Bradshaw, ICC Head of Digital, said in a statement that: “The ICC is always looking for ways to reach new fans, and Meta’s platforms are a fantastic way to do that. We can’t wait to see the unique perspectives these creators will bring to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and help make it the greatest cricket event ever.”

This initiative marks the largest creator campaign for any ICC tournament till date and will ensure that this cricket season will be more colorful, explosive and thrilling than ever before. The increased use of creators displays their ongoing awareness of the appeal and popularity of the content creation industry in all fields, including sports.

The Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 starts Thursday afternoon in Ahmedabad. Don’t forget to miss out!
