During the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 between India and New Zealand, viewership on Disney + Hotstar reached a new peak.
The streaming platform recorded a peak concurrency of 5.3 crore viewers, the highest number till date. The highest number of viewers were recorded during the last overs of the second innings, mere moments before India’s win against New Zealand.
Disney+Hotstar took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the jubilant news:
Thank you #TeamIndia fans and Disney+ hotstar users for breaking the record, yet again! ????????
Now, that’s what we call a knockout performance! ????????#CWC23 pic.twitter.com/kIez9YAEDy

This surpasses their previous record earlier this month, when Disney+Hotstar recorded a peak concurrency of 4.4 crore viewers during India’s match with South Africa. That in turn surpassed their previous record of 4.3 crore viewers achieved during India’s former match with New Zealand. The skyrocketing viewership demonstrates the commitment and passion of India towards cricket and relentless hope of victory.
India won the semi-finals by 70 runs, bowling out New Zealand at 327 in 48.5 overs. They will now proceed to the finals against Australia on Sunday.
