New Delhi 29th April, 2025: In a never-before-like candid interview, seasoned celebrity anchor & journalist Preeti Hoon indulges BEI Confluence’s Chairman & Managing Director Tapas Gupta in an indulging and heart-to-heart conversation in a five series vodcast on reaching a unique and significant milestone in the history of Indian Advertising. The vodcast is a first of its kind series in India covering the five (5) decades journey of India’s first leading advertising professional, stepping into his 50th working year in the profession without taking a single career-break and continuing non-stop in a full time role as the CMD of a large Indian Ad Agency.
Tapas started his career in 1975 when he joined Clarion McCann (later Clarion Advertising) the then India’s 2nd largest advertising agency as a Management Trainee in the Calcutta office straight from college and by 1985/86 he had become the Branch Head of Clarion, Calcutta. In 1986 he started the TSA/TSME (Tara Sinha McCann Erickson) office in Kolkata and in 1991 he moved to TSME, Delhi (later known as McCann-Erickson India) to head the agency’s flagship office in Delhi while overseeing Kolkata. In 1996 he was elevated to the role of President and CEO of M-E’s first 2nd agency venture in India PSL Universal McCann.
In 1998, Tapas started his own agency BEI Confluence with a breakaway group from PSL McCann & M-E. Since then for the last 27 years there has been no looking back. Today BEI Confluence is one of North India’s largest independent 360 agencies built on robust infrastructure, large & reputed client base and vibrant talent pool. In his role as CMD of the agency he continues with the same enthusiasm as a mentor & a guiding force, while his son Abhishek runs the operations of the agency as a Joint MD.
The five-episodes vodcast marks the commencement of a new show ‘So What’s Your Story with Preeti Hoon’ which will feature India’s top business tycoons, entrepreneurs, professionals sharing their stories of success, failure, rising, interesting anecdotes, valuable information and knowledge for young aspiring Indians to learn from and get to know never-told-before stories.
