Killer Jeans maker Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited (KKCL)has filed a lawsuit against Netflix web series ‘Killer Soup’ starring Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sensharma, alleging that the show infringes and violates their ‘Killer’ trademark.

The first hearing of the case will take place at the Bombay High Court on 11 March. “KKCL has impleaded producers MacGuffin Pictures LLP and Netflix Entertainment Services India LLP as defendants in the suit,” KKCL has stated in a press release.

For the unauthorized use of the word in Netflix’s web series, KKCL, the registered owner of the trademark “Killer,” has sought 10 crores in token damages. In a notice to MacGuffin Pictures and Netflix Entertainment, KKCL’s legal team has mentioned 57 classes where they registered for the trademark ‘Killer’ from 2001 to 2011, citing its popularity due to product quality, marketing strategies and intensive advertising.

Killer Soup premiered on Netflix on 11 January 2024. The series is co-written by Abhishek Chaubey, along with Harshad Nalawade, Anant Tripathi, and Unaiza Merchant, and helmed by Abhishek Chaubey.
