As Apple prepares for the launch of its highly anticipated launch of the iPhone 16, an unexpected ad from the past has caught the internet’s attention.
A 1996 Apple Macintosh ad featuring Bollywood actor Samir Soni has resurfaced online and gone viral, provoking a wave of nostalgia among tech enthusiasts and fans of vintage Indian advertising.
A Blast from the Past:
Shared on Instagram by the account TV1, the ad opens in a typical corporate office setting. A high-ranking official from the head office approaches an employee, played by a young Samir Soni, and requests him to run Windows disk on his PC. Composed, Soni’s character confidently hands back his Apple Macintosh, demonstrating its compatibility with Windows software.
The ad ends with the dynamic tagline, “Does more, costs less, it’s that simple”— a bold statement from Apple during the 1990s.

“Does more, costs less was the tagline previously, now it should be ‘costs more, does less!’” Armaan Shahid humorously commented.
“Apple computers 90’s: does more cost less. Apple computers now: does less cost more,” another user added.
“Lot of Jim Halpert energy,” another user observed.
Several users have also taken the opportunity to evaluate the standards of advertising in the past compared to the present.
“Before, the ads were so sophisticated. Nowadays, what do they even make?” Harish Sharma wrote.
