The Swedish Furniture Giant, Ikea, made its entry in India back in 2018 with a 13 acre complex in Hyderabad which had been in the works for over a decade.

The new store was inaugurated on August 9 with an opening ceremony that was attended by the Swedish Ambassador to India, Klas Molin, and Telangana State IT Minister, KT Rama Rao. Nearly 200 customers from across the city queued up outside the store to be the first to get a taste of what IKEA had to offer the locals.

To increase awareness and hype, Ikea introduced its first localized ad a few days before the inauguration as a part of their #MakeEverydayBrighter campaign, their first-ever campaign in India.

The ad showcased several locals taking a trip down the city in their brightly colored customized autos that took them on a virtual reality tour. A unique journey through the city where different pieces of furniture and kitchen equipment dropped in front of them, displaying few of the quality products they have to offer.

Since Ikea was among the very first online furniture store to give people the added advantage of augmented reality and they used this feature to enhance the customer experience, they leveraged their VR to give locals a 360 visual experience.
